As I write, I feel a mix of emotions. It’s so exciting to release this music and I'm grateful to be able put it out there. Inevitably, there is a sense of loss - and some trepidation. This has been a very personal project. Four years of research, writing, learning and making mistakes (tons of them). I've loved every moment of making it - even the ones that were tough. So - here it is. No sample libraries. No AI. Each sound crafted with intent. I hope that listening to this music, you find something for yourself within it. It is Bandcamp Friday! This means that Bandcamp waives its fees for each sale. Every purchase makes a huge difference and directly contributes to future releases. There are plans for a physical edition - so watch this space. Thank you! Over the next few weeks, I'll be dipping into my field notes and Dropbox folders to share the making of Kielder Water Music with you. I will also focus on the people and organisations that helped me bring this piece to life. This is my first solo release, but it would not have existed without the time, talent and generosity of others. Here is an audio diary entry, recorded at Kielder on 21st January 2022. At this point, I had secured Arts Council funding and spent a few days recording sounds and gathering ideas at the site. Listening now, it's interesting how things changed. I was completely unaware of how much work was in front of me! Fair warning: it contains swearing. More to follow.
