This month saw the release of Criminal Record on Apple TV+ with an original score by Neil Davidge. I recorded piano at St George's for it. Playing on soundtracks is some of my favourite work. It's the kind of thing I dreamt of doing when I was young, so I never take the experience for granted. I love the challenge of phrasing to the on-screen action and even enjoy the pressure (sometimes). You really earn your tea on these recording sessions! Thanks to Neil and his fantastic team (Drew Morgan, Patrick Phillips and Gwyd Wheeler). Matt Brown's new band, 6161, has been at J+J Studio. His new tunes are so damn good! I play monosynth (bass) and polysynth (chords, noises) with this group. The recording is now in the hands of Riaan Vosloo for mixing and production. A new residency (also the brain-child of Matt) has started at Spirited on North Street, Bristol. It happens on the first Sunday of every month at 2 pm. The next one is with saxophonist Jake McMurchie on 4th February. If anything else - come for the hot chocolate. Seriously. On the 7th February, I'll be playing in piano trio format with Riaan Vosloo (double bass) and Alex Goodyear (drums) at Fringe Jazz. The set will feature music by the Prodigy alongside rare standards and original music. Later in February, Modulus III will return to Paris to play La Gare for a two-night residency. Four years have passed since our last visit - we are excited to play there again. I will document our adventure for a future piece.
